In 2014 Matt Snader purchased 40 acres of Alaska wilderness, although it wasn't until 2021 that he bought his first rental unit, a log cabin in Clam Gulch. Since then he has been adding more units, with several in Soldotna, near the Kenai River. His friend, Jerry, added a duplex on Denise Lake to the portfolio in 2026. 

In addition to the short term rentals, Matt Snader and his family (along with the aforementioned Jerry) operate the Farmhouse Bakery in Soldotna. Emanuel Yoder and his family are partners in the bakery operation. 

So what exactly is a True Alaskan, as in the rental business name? Some people might envision an old sourdough, driving his dog sled across the frozen tundra, while fighting off bears with an old boat oar (because the rifle either jammed or was frozen). While that sounds nice, an actual True Alaskan is probably more likely to be wrestling frozen pipes, or trying to get his old rusty truck to start, so he can plow more snow.
